MOD TO GOD

Hello everyone, my name is Glenn, and today I want to share my journey of how I became a Christian. It all started back in 1980 when I was just an 18-year-old seeking purpose and excitement in life. One day, I stumbled upon a new film at the local cinema in Eastbourne called Quadrophenia, based on the rock album by The Who. Little did I know how this film would change my life!

Quadrophenia told the story of a young man named Jimmy, who belonged to the vibrant youth culture of the 60s called Mods. The Mods were known for their music, stylish scooters, like Vespas and Lambrettas, their smart clothing, and their iconic Green Army fishtail Parkas. Watching this film, I felt an instant connection – I had found my tribe, a place where I truly belonged and could aspire to be someone special.

With my very own Vesper scooter, I embraced the Mod lifestyle wholeheartedly and cherished every moment of it. But life is a journey, and as time passed, I met an amazing young girl named Cathy. The most astonishing part was that she, too, was a Mod girl! Later, in 1986, we decided to tie the knot and get married in Polegate, Sussex.

It was during our preparations for the wedding that we started contemplating matters of faith. Eventually, Cathy and I found ourselves giving our lives to Christ. While I still cherished the music and style of the Mod culture, my priorities shifted, and a new chapter began.

What led me to embrace and believe in the Christian Gospel message I heard? There were several key factors that convinced me:

1/ The Wonder of Creation: God has revealed himself through the beauty and magnificence of creation. As the Bible says, "The heavens declare the glory of God."

2/ The Inspired Word: The Gospel (Good News), as revealed in the Bible, it spoke to our hearts and we knew it was true.

3/ Christ's Presence: God revealed himself to us through the power of the Holy Spirit 

4/ I understood that I had broken God's Laws (Commandments)

5/ That Jesus was the Son of God, who lived, was crucified, and rose again on the third day.

5/  The simple truth that was written down nearly 2000 years ago that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 

If you're curious about Christianity, if you feel a tug in your heart that this might be the moment for a spiritual connection, know that God promises us a new and abundant life. It doesn't mean a life without troubles, but rather a life where He is always with us, guiding and supporting us. Through prayer, we can talk to Him, and He will lead us on an incredible journey.
